Articles: Fitting Cocofibre backgrounds |
|
|
|
Coco-fiber backgrounds have long been used in creating naturalistic terrariums. Our Coco-fiber tiles are held together with natural rubber making them more robust and able to withstand humidity much better than a lot of those currently available on the market. Coco-fiber tiles are superb for planted tropical terrariums moss and epiphitic plants such as Bomeliads, Tillandsia & Ferns can be easily rooted onto these tiles. Below is a guide on fitting these tiles to create backgrounds.
The first step is to measure up the terrarium and mark out the shapes needed on the tiles, It is important to accurately measure each side of the terrarium, as each one WILL be slightly different:
Next using a straight edge the panels are cut to size with a sharp knife:
The cut tile is placed in position any slight trimming can be done with a pair of scissors:
Both sides now in place the back panel is cut and put in place:
Any gaps up the side of the back panel are filled with strips cut from the leftovers, these strips are cut slightly wide to ensure a good tight fit and an almost invisible seam:
All panels now cut to size and placed they are ready for gluing into position using a high modulus, acetic cure, 100% silicon as sold for aquarium manufacture:
