Specially formulated blends of salts for making Holtfreter’s Solution.
A number of commonly kept fully aquatic Amphibian species such as Axolotls (Ambystoma mexicanum) & African Clawed Frogs (Xenopus, Silurana, & Hymenochirus) prefer to live in moderately hard water and when kept in water that is too soft will often suffer from anaemia (causing a pale colorless appearance), and an increased risk of fungal infection. By mixing Holtfreter’s Salts into your aquarium you can raise the general hardness of your water to a more preferable level. Water hardness has also been shown to be the key to fertility in African Clawed Frogs and those kept in moderately to very hard water typically produce higher quality oocytes and better embryo development.
Please note that these salts may also affect your pH.
